Regret? ~ A 100-word essay
66
Regret?
She had regrets. Sure she did. Most people of a certain age have regrets. Oh, she never hurt anyone. She didn’t lie, cheat, or steal. She paid her bills on time, and only took a penny at the store when she really needed it, leaving a penny when she could. The regrets were still there. They haunted her. Especially at night. In the dark, when the world was so quiet, her brain attacked her. That smartass brain started it all, but the heart was always hurt the most. Her heart was broken. Her regret? She had not used it.

100 words about the essay
The essay above came from a dream. I woke up one morning after dreaming of someone that I hadn't thought of in a long time. They were special to me, but we were at different junctures in our lives. It wasn't meant to be. The age difference was just too great. That being said, I believe everything happens for a reason. That reason? He needed to experience the world that I had already experienced. I would have just held him back. I hear he's doing great and that makes me so happy. I just wish I'd stop dreaming about him!

It is hard to pack so much into so few words but you managed to pull it off...great job!
To have regets is to understand yourself a little bit more. Thanks for sharing, Lisa
Reget is just a word
that sounds so blunt
going back in a search
for something we hunt.
Just like poetry!
Very interesting! I like it. Voted up
Your work is between prose and poetry, between essay and story. This is a fusion of style. I loved the philosophical pondering in your essay.
Voted up. It says so much in so few words. I hate it when my brain takes over in the middle of the night after an extremely hard day and batters me with what if's and what have's etc.
